Two members of City Council are upset because Mayor Derek Slaughter did not consult that body before advertisings for a realtor.
Williamsport City Hall had been condemned. All but several city police officers were relocated after leaks in the roof caused significant water damage during thunderstorms in mid-July.WILLIAMSPORT-There may be a “For Sale” sign on Williamsport’s City Hall soon. The city has begun advertising for proposals from realtors for brokerage services for the sale of the 130-year-old, currently condemned building.
The decision by Mayor Derek Slaughter to seek proposals for a realtor upsets two members of City Council that would have to approve the sale. He accused Slaughter of dragging his feet in getting estimates of the cost to bring City Hall into compliance. None of them can be signed City Hall because they were built with transit funds for use by River Valley Transit.can be used only as a transportation museum or for recreational purposes.
