A prominent Liberal woman and former journalist has a bold plan to even up a gender gap in the party’s ranks.

That disconnect is impacting our culture and policies,” said the political staffer who founded the Liberal women’s booster group Hilma’s Network.
The moves follow a federal election campaign earlier this year in which former prime minister Scott Morrison’s approval rating among women slumped toLast week the head of the Liberal-aligned Menzies Research Centre, Nick Cater, illustrated lingering attitudes in the party, opining that “single young females [are] the biggest threat to parties on the right” and that “young women may be more ideologically drawn to the left than those older and wiser to the ways of the world”.
“I’m from a migrant background, I didn’t speak any English when I came to Australia and I was up against someone from the political class, who was wealthy, a lawyer, very well-connected and in his 70s,” she said. “But I was the one who was elected. And to me, that demonstrates a culture shift.
