A Maroons star has been challenged to emulate a legend, or risk being bullied out of the Origin decider.

Former State of Origin champion Gavin Cooper has challenged Maroons prop Reuben Cotter to embody the spirit of legendary enforcer Carl Webb, or risk being bullied out of Wednesday’s decider.

It left plenty of wounds to lick ahead of Wednesday night, but few know more about emerging through adversity than Cotter.Cotter has been kept relatively quiet so far this series – he has averaged 89 running metres and 42 tackles a game compared to his previous Origin performance averages of 122 running metres and 46.75 tackles.

“He played a lot of footy as a kid, which probably contributed to both his knees. Turning up every day knowing you’re not playing is really hard for a young kid. Webb shaved the letter ‘Q’ into the side of his head when he went into battle against NSW. That symbol became synonymous with the former firebrand.
