The former prime minister made a desperate plea to protect his wife and two daughters after he was thrown back into the spotlight this week over five secret ministerial appointments.
The former prime minister has made headlines each day this week over the self-appointment of five portfolios - Health, Finance, Home Affairs, Treasury and Industry, Science, Energy and Resources - between March 2020 to May 2021.
Mr Morrison stressed he did not interfere with any decisions or exercise powers in the ministries except"in relation to Resources and Department of Industry". "As a Member of Parliament of course I'm accountable and I'm happy to be here today. But members of my family have nothing to do with this," he said.
He ended the press conference more than an hour later to repeat his plea again to the media and questioned if every day Australians would be interested in seeing photos of him drive around his neighbourhood.

‘Unfettered power’: Scott Morrison just about ‘minister for everything’ as PMThe lack of transparency around former prime minister Scott Morrison secretly assuming power over a range of government portfolios is extraordinary, Sky News host Chris Kenny says. Mr Morrison secretly swore himself into additional portfolios during the pandemic which included health, finance and resources portfolios. 'Now you might be able to make a case for this doubling up of responsibility in a crisis – it's a big ask in my view,' Mr Kenny said. 'There still is a fundamental principle that has been completely ignored here – transparency. 'It is always unwise to give governments unfettered power.'
