Queensland coach Billy Slater applauded star rookie Reece Walsh for “rising above” being targeted by NSW after his latest Origin outing ended in a send-off and headbutt allegation.
“There’s been a bit going on in the first two games and it’s just probably boiled over a little bit,” Slater said of the last-minute stink, referencing an early kick-chase in Origin I when Addo-Carr hit Walsh high but avoided a penalty. “He’s got to learn to accept that that’s coming for the next 15 years. That’s not going anywhere. But he rose above it and he’ll learn.“He’s 20 years old, he will learn. But boy hasn’t he had some sort of series, and he’s earned that.”
