Another dingo has been euthanised on popular Queensland tourist destination K'gari, formerly known as Fraser Island.
Three dingoes, also called wongari, have been destroyed so far this year amid a spate of attacks on islandgoers.
"As a result he was declared an unacceptable risk to the public. The dingo was a only a juvenile born last year and will now never reach adulthood."Three dingoes have been destroyed this year, and counting, as there are others being closely monitored." "Reports continue of people flaunting the rules, children left on their own, visitor's enticing and feeding the animals while others are chasing them with 'dingo' sticks and other implements," the group said.
The most recent attack, described as"serious" by the department, involved a woman who was bit while standing alone on a beach on August 26. Since the dingo was tagged in January, the DES said the animal demonstrated"increasingly high-risk behaviours" which included stealing food, as well as nipping and biting people. On Monday, the DES confirmed the decision was made to"humanely euthanised" the dingo in consultation with K'gari's traditional owners.
