An American man has died from a mass poisoning event in a South-East Asian country, becoming the third person to be killed after drinking poisoned alcohol.

A spokesperson from the department declined to reveal any specifics about the American victim, but he is understood to be a 56-year-old man, the SMH reported. Australian best friends Holly Bowles and Bianca Jones are among the tourists fighting for their lives in Thailand hospitals after consuming the alcoholic beverages.
“We’d just like to thank everyone from back home for all the support and love that we’re receiving but we’d also like for people to appreciate right now we just need privacy so we can spend as much time as we can with Holly," he said on Wednesday. It is understood officials and the police chief seized bottles of alcohol from the backpacker accommodation to be tested in the country's capital.
