AFL: In welcome news for North Melbourne fans, Luke Davies Uniacke has hinted his long term future is with the Roos as contract talks continue for the star midfielder.
Predictions about the future of Sam Darcy have included suggestions he could become the best player in the AFL in the near future and the Western Bulldogs have locked him away until at least the end of 2029 in a massive early Christmas present for supporters. The 21-year-old son of club great Luke has signed a four-year extension with the Bulldogs, warding off a host of potential suitors for the 200cm dual-threat who kicked 38 goals in a breakout season in 2024.
“This club means so much to me – I’ve got a rich family history here. I grew up supporting the Bulldogs and I am very grateful to be living out my dreams at Mission Whitten Oval.” Darcy only played four and three games in his first two seasons after being drafted as he battled a raft of injury issues before his towering ability up forward and in the ruck came to the fore in 2024, helping the Bulldogs return to the finals.“Only three seasons into his career, Sam has shown plenty of exciting qualities as he navigates the early parts of his journey,” Bulldogs’ Acting Head of Men’s Football, Sam Power, said.
