Viatris Australia country manager Sylvain Vigneault says Roger Federer “is an example of what can happen when you have the right attitude”.

Sylvain Vigneault is the country manager for pharmaceutical company Viatris Australia. He lives in Sydney.I started playing with friends at around eight years old. I grew up in Canada, where the tennis parks are public and you can just walk onto the court. It was close to where I lived, and it was a fun thing to do during the summer break. I started training more seriously when I was about 12, and gradually reached a more competitive level.

I occasionally compete in inter-club competitions, but I play more socially and compete against friends and family. I really enjoy playing doubles with my wife, Lynn, and children, Alec and Olivia – it’s great to see them love sport and improve each time.I play between six and 10 hours of tennis a week on average. Of that, I spend an hour with a coach on Sunday mornings to build my skills.I would be middle of the pack, but these days the focus is friendly competition.
