Tszyu set to get his world title dream against Charlo | proshenks
The undefeated Australian doesn’t normally enjoy the endless references to his famous father Kostya, but felt this one was apt after news broke that he will be granted his dream bout, a shot at Jermell Charlo and the undisputed world championship that comes with it.
The eighth will be decided when compatriot George Kambosos takes on American Devin Haney in their lightweight showdown at Marvel Stadium on Sunday. “He’s just the typical, flashy, talk smack-type guy,” Tszyu said. “There’s no better way to shut him up than to punch him in the face. Documents posted on the WBO website confirm that Tszyu’s promoter, Matt Rose of No Limit, and Charlo’s handler, Tom Brown of TGB Promotions, have until June 20 to make the fight happen. Tszyu’s handlers are hoping to bring the fight to Australia, but as the champion, it’s likely Charlo will dictate that it be staged on home soil in America.
