Turns out they do have a purpose
Today in 'Huh, I never knew that', we bring you the news that those extra holes in the side of your Converse actually have a purpose. That's right, they're not just a little design quirk - the clever kids at Converse actually have two very specific purposes for them.
Up until this point, you've probably been staring at your Converse dumbfounded, unsure of what to do with those holes in the side. I know I have. Well, wonder no more - it turns out their first purpose is to provide a little ventilation to your feet. The holes allow air to circulate around and stop your feet getting all sweaty. To be honest, we can only really see this as being effective if you go sock-less, which we think in Converse would actually be pretty uncomfortable?
Anyway, moving on - you do you on the sock front - their second purpose is to allow you to get creative with lacing. That's right, you don't just have to lace your Converse in the traditional way - check out this video using the extra holes:
