There’s still the COVID-19 pandemic. And it’sjust as easy to break your own heart and spirit by spending day after day scrolling on social media, absorbing potentially hundreds of snippets of bad news before you’ve even had your second cup of tea.

I understand the impulse, of course. When you’re trying to be more conscientious and better informed, it feels antithetical to the greater good to intentionally unplug. It feels like knowing less on purpose, like choosing ignorance. But knowing a little bit about loads of different things is not actually very useful.
