.CllrTKerr's column on the Coronation
I have been glad as a Bailie of the City, to represent the Lord Provost at events throughout the coronation weekend.
We were joined by veterans from across the country, as well as local people from across the North West who brought their flags, crowns and other memorabilia to bring in this special occasion. This event was joined by army cadets, veterans and others from our emergency services who took part in making the crowning of our new monarch. Led by the Lord Provost, we sent our heartiest congratulations to His Majesty, King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
I have found the attacks on the city’s civic officers for holding and supporting coronation events by certain Bailies – Councillors appointed byThese attacks were led by the Glasgow Greens and their Bailies, such as Bailie Caroll, must now seriously consider whether they can genuinely support our city’s civic life after their behaviour this past weekend.
Since they tweeted last week attacking me personally, I’ve had death threats and personal abuse sent to me on every platform. As has our Lord Provost, why? For simply supporting our head of state.
