‘Those carrying coffins out of Ukraine are not focused on climate change’
Young people advocating for climate change action should consider how their liberties could be infringed upon in an aggressive invasion like Ukraine, the Deputy Prime Minister says, urging them to instead consider how they will pay for defending Australia.
This week, the Federal Court ruled that federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley did not have a duty of care to protect young people from climate change harm when considering fossil fuel projects such as mines.“Now, we have students who are challenging in the court the government’s right to approve the expansion of coal mines,” Mr Joyce said.
“The people of democratic Taiwan are also watching this. Maybe these same students could ask people in Taiwan what their compass points and priorities are,” he said.
