Thousands of swimmers have been evacuated after the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre became engulfed in flames on Monday afternoon.

Picture: Supplied Fire crews used a ladder platform to attack the flames and were able to get the blaze under control within about 45 minutes.FRNSW confirmed that more than 2,500 people had to be evacuated during the incident.
"There's about 10 fire lots, there's police everywhere. We're all getting herded outside," the witness said, with emergency sirens blaring in the background.
