Sydney Airport blamed foggy conditions and a technical issue for lengthy delays on Monday morning as many took to social media to express their anger over queues which spilled out the door.

The line for security spilled out the door of the domestic terminal at about 7am on Monday morning, with several passengers expressing their frustration on social media after they were forced to wait out in the cold.

Sky News Australia Political Editor Andrew Clennell, who was due to board his flight at 8:25am, said it had been"unsurprisingly" delayed by an hour.
