Frustrated workers in the aged care sector are set to walk off the job in protest over inadequate staffing levels and pay as they warned residents were being left without basic needs and care.
Thousands of aged care workers in three states are set to strike weeks out from the Federal Election over poor staffing levels and inadequate pay as unions warned of a mass exodus of"heartbroken" caregivers.
Together, the five providers will argue for better work conditions and salaries as they fear stressful workloads could leave residents without basic needs and care. UWU National Aged Care Director, Carolyn Smith, said the sector has been in crisis for"many years" but it was heightened by the coronavirus pandemic.
