More than half the people who have applied for the rental support have been found ineligible, while another 1000 were asked for more information. “With only a couple of hundred people we just don’t have the scale of resourcing or the role to sustain 24-hour operations during the response phase, particularly of those events,” he said.
Service NSW executive director of risk, strategy and performance Catherine Ellis confirmed about 16 per cent of those who had applied for the rental assistance had received it. The government is considering extending the rental program, which is set to end on June 24.
