A Victorian man accused of leaving a toddler with ‘horrendous’ injuries allegedly had his parents pass on messages to the little girl’s mother.

Benjamin Stockdale is accused of intentionally causing serious injury to the toddler on November 12 and appeared via videolink for the second day of his bail hearing in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court on Friday.

She rushed to hospital where doctors found bleeding on the brain, retinal haemorrhaging, cuts and bruises, the court was told.Police told the could they did not want Mr Stockdale released on bail and believe he was at risk of intimidating witnesses and fleeing the state. But Mr Stockdale’s sister Abbie and mother Wendy testified and said they would report any breaches of bail conditions to officers.
