Nine bushfires are now burning at emergency level across New South Wales, with a further nine at the watch and act level.
Radar images from the Bureau of Meteorology gained some traction online showing what appeared to be rain clouds - however the images actually depict smoke moving across the state.The smoke is not expected to clear for sometime, unless a strong easterly wind arrives, according to the NSW RFS.
There's been a 25 per cent increase in the number of people arriving at emergency departments with breathing problems and asthma, according to New South Wales health officials. People with asthma are being urged to stay indoors, use the recycled air feature on air conditioners, and keep preventative medication on themselves at all times.Twenty-one specialist firefighters from Canada have arrived in Australia, and are being briefed on the situation before they are deployed in the state's north tomorrow.
