The majority of Australians who online date have faced some form of abuse or harassment, according to new research. 9News
The government seems eager to work on solutions to reduce the risk of dating app users being targeted, but communications minister Michelle Rowland said there's no overnight fix.
"When a user of a dating app flags a problem. Complaints should not be just another data point," Rowland said. "But we acknowledge we can't create a false sense of safety but there does need to be an integrated approach," she said.Apps could also be transparent about the complaint process.Domestic violence experts have called for dating apps to work harder to protect and educate users.
She has a long history of working with both victims and perpetrators, and said educational prompts should be part of signing up for dating apps.
