Alleged incidents said to have occurred at Belfast park, the accused's home and Helen's Bay
The accused, who was aged between 15 and 16 at the time of the alleged offences and who cannot be named due to his age, has denied all charges against him and has claimed all three incidents involved consensual sex.
Addressing the jury, Crown barrister Charles MacCreanor KC said the first incident occurred in a park in Belfast on July 2, 2020. He said on that date the accused who was 15 and the complainant who was 16 were part of a group of teenagers enjoying a “summer’s day in the park”. She subsequently told police her brain shut down, she felt she couldn’t do anything about what was happening and that he ignored her protests until he finished. Mr MacCreanor said the second alleged incident occurred at a party in the accused’s home in Belfast in May 2021.
The prosecutor told the jury: “She was saying ‘can you stop’ and he was saying to her ‘you’ll have a good time’.” She said he then raped her, that she was shocked and sore and that she felt she couldn’t fight him as he was three times her size. The jury heard that after all three girls contacted the PSNI, the accused was interviewed by police. He accepted he had intercourse with all three girls but claimed all the incidents were consensual.
