A three-year-old child has been bitten in a terrifying dingo attack at a popular Queensland tourist destination. The dingo bit the child on the back of the leg while the child was walking with family on a beach near Kingfisher Bay on K’gari, formerly known as Fraser Island, about 5pm on Saturday. “The parents picked up the child and tried to scare the dingo away but it wasn’t deterred,” the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation said.

“The dingo kept a distance but was not deterred.” DESI has sent rangers to the area try to identify the dingo involved. It said increased education in the area and safety signs will also be assessed and additional signs installed. Last August a dingo bit a four-year-old girl around the chest and abdominal area while she was fishing with a group of eight children near NgKala Rocks on the eastern side of the island.
