Thunderbird Coffee, a local shop in east Austin, will be closing on or before Dec. 17, according to a social media post.
“I know there’s a lot of y’all who had a really long relationship with Thunderbird. I’ve been here for 17 years,” a man said in a video posted to the coffee shop’s Instagram account. “It’s been a really hard decision to come to.”“Work from home is a blessing for a lot of people, but it’s been really hard on our business... Basically, it’s gotten to the point where we’re not convinced we can offer good jobs to people and continue to be here sustainably,” he said.
According to the post, they will stay open for as long as they are able. The top priority, however, is taking care of the team and ensuring they have successful transitions to their new jobs. Customers can come say their final goodbyes to Thunderbird, which is located at 2200 Manor Road. The hours are changing slightly, so the shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
