Indigenous great Johnathan Thurston has endorsed Phil Gould’s vision for the Canterbury winger, while voicing his disappointment at the failure of the Yes campaign in the Voice to Parliament referendum.
Johnathan Thurston is backing Josh Addo-Carr to bounce back from his off-field dramas and fulfil Phil Gould’s hopes of him becoming the face of Indigenous rugby league.to help him become a key figure in the Indigenous game during the back end of his career and after his playing career.
“We need people like Josh at the forefront of our game. Just because you make a mistake doesn’t make you a bad person. If you make those same mistakes over and again, then you need to look at your behaviour. But I feel this incident is a one-off.Credit:“Young people look up to Josh. He’s played Origin, he’s a World Cup winner, he’s a premiership winner, and it would be nice for the game to get behind him and put him on that path .
“It’s a shame, that’s the way the Australian people have voted, but it won’t stop the work I do in the communities with the next generation of our culture,” he said.
