A young tigress and a wild boar were rescued together from a well in central India after the tigress accidentally fell in while chasing its prey. The incident occurred in Pipariya Harduli village, within the Jikurai forest range. Villagers alerted authorities who used a cot and a hydraulic machine to pull the struggling animals out of the well after a four-hour operation.
Local media reported that the young tigress, which had been chasing the wild boar, accidentally fell into the hole, along with its prey, in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
The incident came to light when locals arrived to fetch water from the well in Pipariya Harduli village, which is within the Jikurai forest range. Villagers promptly called authorities to retrieve the animals, which were struggling to keep their heads above water.Loading... A cot was lowered into the well using a rope, and both animals were pulled out with the help of a hydraulic machine.According to the reserve's deputy director, Rajnish Kumar Singh, the rescue operation took four hours.In a post on Instagram, the Pench National Park described the rescue mission as "one of the most challenging operations ever conducted" and "like no other".
Following the incident, wildlife officials urged farmers to cover or fence off open wells in forested areas.
