NRL: The NRL 360 panel discuss the dire situation at the Wests Tigers as Lachlan Galvin and Stefano Utoikamanu want out of the club.

How can Benji Marshall continue to sit there and unleash the blowtorch on his players without at least taking some public ownership of what is going wrong at Wests Tigers ?

At least attempt to shoulder some of the blame and perhaps deliver the truth syrup in private. Especially given the Tigers’ young roster that ran out against the Dragons - with seven players missing, as Benji did point out. That said, it is becoming more obvious by the week that getting this train wreck back on track is no place for a rookie coach.

Initially, I didn’t agree with criticism there was anything wrong with a coach wanting to spend quality time with his young family during the bye round. It was made worse when the Tigers returned to “work” against the Dragons and crashed to a humiliating defeat at the hands of a team you’d hardly consider premiership heavyweights.

If the Blues are to be any hope of saving the series in Melbourne Matt Burton needs to be in the starting team at five-eighth. But partnering him with Burton would give the Blues their best combined kicking game, while they both possess a live threat every time they run the ball.Maguire wouldn’t budge leading into the first game after naming Burton as 18th man and going with the four-man forward bench rotation.

Now to this ridiculous debate about whether Latrell Mitchell is playing well enough to make his Origin return. While Mitchell only had eight runs for 90 metres, that included a try, three try assists and four linebreak assists. Don’t forget when Arthur arrived at the Eels they were in a position not so different to where the Tigers are now.

The Broncos boast all the talent in the world but are dead set premiership pretenders without Adam Reynolds. With the veteran halfback sidelined, the Broncos will just want to hope they can stay in top four contention until Reynolds is back.In contrast, the Sharks rebounded with a quality performance without Nicho Hynes , with Braydon Trindall having a blinder. The flip side of the Tigers’ debacle was the Dragons’ showing exactly why they are now genuine top eight contenders for the first time in six seasons on the back of Shane Flanagan’s arrival.

Seriously, the arm carrying the ball never touched the ground as Flanagan reached back over his head to score.
