Two DC Comics series centered on fan-favorite Gotham City vigilantes, Tim Drake: Robin and Batgirls, will be coming to an end this June.
The Gotham corner of DC's monthly offerings is getting a little bit smaller this June as the publisher is ending both Tim Drake: Robin and Batgirls. Both series saw significant development for their main characters, and fans will bid them a fond farewell.
DC Comics announced the conclusion of Tim Drake: Robin and Batgirls in the publisher's June solicitations. The Batgirls #19 summary invites readers to "join the Batgirls in the march to celebrate them in this last issue of the beloved series!" Meanwhile, there was some confusion surrounding the fate of Tim Drake: Robin.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Though the summary for Tim Drake: Robin #10 doesn't include any indication that the issue is the series' last, a "SERIES FINALE!" banner in the June edition of DC's monthly solicitation magazine, DC Connect, confirms the end of this groundbreaking series. Tim Drake writer Meghan Fitzmartin also confirmed this news on Twitter, saying, "It has been an incredible privilege to tell Tim Drake's story.
These books will be sorely missed by their fans, both because there were few other Gotham books like them and because, in an ever-expanding Bat-Family, it's possible Tim, Steph, and Cass will once again take a backseat among Batman's allies, at least in spotlight roles. Tim's story in particular will be missed, especially as one of the few openly queer members of the Bat-Family.
And fans will be able to find a few of them in new places across the DCU. Tim has already been working with Bruce as Robin in the main Batman title, and it's likely he'll continue as a supporting character there. And though Steph's future is a mystery, Cass Cain's Batgirl will be co-starring in the new miniseries Spirit World. The end of Batgirls and Tim Drake: Robin might be on the horizon, but it's not the end of these beloved and fan-favorite characters.
