Glens First Team Coach feels too many demands being put on players
It may only be the opening month of the season but Tim McCann feels there is too much demand being put on Irish league players.
It will be a third game in six days for the Glens and McCann believes it's too much, even at this early stage of the campaign. Glentoran lost Josh Kelly, Jay Donnelly and Cammy Palmer to injury against the Bannsiders and McCann said if it was the Premier League clubs wouldn't accept it. "It's about protecting players, this is their livelihood and we're asking them to play every couple of days which is a bit crazy. I think Josh has jarred his knee so we'll have to assess him. Jay had to come off at half time, I thought he was excellent in the first half. Cammy pulled up with a hamstring injury, but again three games in six days is a bit crazy."
"Deccy has that passion and desire instilled in the players," said McCann. "The boys have been back in a good eight or nine weeks and it's been drilled into them by him.
