Presidential candidate Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) will headline former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown's Backyard BBQ in New Hampshire next month.
Brown, a Republican known for pulling off an upset win over then-Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley in the 2010 special election to fill late Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy's Senate seat in Massachusetts, will be hosting the barbecue event on Sept. 7 in Rye, New Hampshire.Scott is also in New Hampshire on Friday, headlining the Concord Republican Party's"Politics and Pies Event" just two days after participating in the Republican National Committee's primary debate.
Next week, the South Carolina senator will be back in his home state to speak at Rep. Jeff Duncan's annual Faith & Freedom BBQ on Aug. 28. The event will be headlined by fellow presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis . Brown has invited Republican hopefuls in the primary contest to speak to voters in New Hampshire during his series of backyard barbecues. Some of those who accepted his invitation so far are DeSantis, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, and Vivek Ramaswamy. The former senator has also indicated that his endorsement in the race is anyone's for the taking.
In a recent New Hampshire poll from Emerson College, Scott ranked fourth with 6%, which is higher than his national position. Nearly half of Granite State Republican primary voters still opted for former President Donald Trump, however. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie took second in the survey with 9%, and DeSantis dropped to third with 8%.
