Six-month-old Aria Logan has Apert Syndrome which prevents her skull from growing normally, affecting the shape of her head. Mum Nicola Geddes says her little girl will need lifelong support.

A six-month-old baby who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder underwent a six hour operation at just 11 weeks old, leaving her parents in tears.

Apert Syndrome is part of a wider condition known as Craniosynostosis - where one or more of the gaps in an infant's skull fuses prematurely, which can affect cranial growth, skull development and head shape. "It was the most horrific time. Watching our baby go under anaesthetic was the most sickening and worrying time of our life. The disease has also left the tot with a cleft palate which she will need to have surgery for. Aria, who has mitten hand and webbed feet, will never be able to 'fully' bend her hands.Nicola and Alan do not know what the future holds for their 'special' daughter.

"We’ve been told she might not crawl as quickly as others and might not walk but we just don’t know what the future looks like. She will need additional support throughout her life.
