A man who shot another man through a front door during an attempted home robbery has been sentenced, with the judge describing it as a 'tragic' case for all involved.
ABC Central West: Stephanie Gardiner Titan Gilkes , 23, was sentenced to 14 years and three months' jail for murdering 58-year-old Paul Jacques during an attempted armed robbery in Wellington, NSW.
Titan Gilkes, 23, pleaded guilty to murdering 58-year-old Paul Jacques after he shot him through a door in Wellington, in August 2021. With a finding of special circumstances, Gilkes was given a non-parole period of 9 years and 6 months, and will be eligible for release in 2033.Gilkes and two others approached the house on Gisborne Street in the early hours of August 2, 2021.
Mr Jacques was treated at the scene, but he entered cardiac arrest and died while being taken to Orange Base Hospital.
