To address rising hate crimes, the government must build trust with communities of color [Opinion]

Some people described being the victims of violent crimes. Some described acts of hate that were not criminal but violated other civil rights laws. Others described encounters with bias — at work, outside their homes, or on streets and in businesses — that did not violate any law but still caused harm.
People targeted for hate don’t need to know if what happened to them was illegal; all are welcome to report and all are eligible for support. While CA vs. Hate is not a law enforcement reporting line, if anyone wants to report to police or prosecutors, that person will get information about how to do it.
