Opinion: To forgive is a strength, not a weakness, so all power to the Abdallah family

The deaths of the three Abdallah children and their cousin, mown down by an alleged drunk driver in Oatlands last weekend, has shocked the nation. What has shocked people even more, perhaps, was the astonishingly grace-filled response of the children’s mother, Leila Geagea Abdallah.Edwina Pickles

Miroslav Volf, professor of theology at Yale University Divinity School, is clear about the crucial obligation of Christians to forgive. “I do not make the argument for a love of the enemy that at the same time affirms justice and goes beyond it," he says. "I simply assume it to be a given of the Christian faith.”
