The former couple filed for divorce in 2020 and were legally declared single on September 21, according to court documents obtained by the New York Post's Page Six. The documents stated that the judgment of dissolution was entered, marital status was terminated, and the parties were restored to the status of single persons.
Divorce Details and Bifurcation
US actor Maguire, 51, and jewellery designer Meyer, 49, bifurcated their marital status, meaning the court has given the exes a separate trial to resolve other issues in their divorce. The specifics of those outstanding matters are not known. The documents read that the court shall reserve jurisdiction to hear and determine all issues raised by the petition and response herein, other than dissolution of the parties' marital status.
Spider-Man star Maguire and Meyer also agreed to have a private judge oversee any outstanding disagreements as they work towards finalising a larger settlement, according to documents Meyer filed on September 16.
Relationship Timeline and Split
The pair met in 2003 when Maguire was shooting the sport and documentary film Seabiscuit at Universal Studios, and they got engaged in April 2006. Maguire and Meyer welcomed their daughter Ruby in November that year; they tied the knot in Kona, Hawaii, in September 2007, and welcomed son Otis in May 2009.
In October 2016, Maguire and Meyer split after nine years of marriage, and Meyer filed for divorce in October 2020. The couple said in a joint statement at the time that after much soul-searching and consideration, they had made the decision to separate as a couple. They added that as devoted parents, their first priority remained raising their children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.
Post-Divorce Relationship and New Beginnings
Meyer has been engaged to music executive Geoffrey Ogunlesi since August 2024, and they welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, in June 2026. Appearing on an episode of the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson + Olivia Allen podcast, she explained that Maguire is her best friend now. She said they travel together and do every holiday together, and she feels lucky. She described him as the best ex-husband in the world and said she hit the jackpot. She added that she does not know what she would do without him in her life and that she rides for him hard, calling him phenomenal. Maguire is even on good terms with Meyer's partner, but she admitted their positive arrangement is the result of a lot of work.
