The playmaker set the bar high for the ibrox squad ahead of the opener against Real Betis.
Todd Cantwell has told Rangers fans his injury is "ticking over nicely" as he set the Ibrox side a lofty European goal before their clash with Real Betis.
The attacking midfielder missed out on the first game of the Europa League group stage with a knee injury that Michael Beale stated was picked up due to a challenge in the final stages of the derby defeat to Celtic. Cantwell was given the diagnosis of missing four games and the Englishman sat out the clash with St Johnstone and is only watching the the Light Blues clash with the La Liga outfit Real Betis.
However, the 25-year-old remaining upbeat as he was put on the spot over his fitness while speaking to TNT Sports before the Scottish Premiership outfit faced Beits. Asked for a personal prognosis, Cantwell told host Emma Dodds and pundit Derek McInnes: “I’d much rather be in the changing now, no disrespect. It is ticking over nicely."
The last time Rangers were in the Europa League they went all the way to the final. And Cantwell admitted that his sights were on similar heroics as the Ibrox group that went all the way to Seville. Asked about the exploits last time Gers were Europe’s second tier competition by Dodds, Cantwell said: “In any competition the sky is the limit really. We will definitely be looking to achieve something similar.”
