HBO's Harry Potter series will have its work cut out recasting the characters, but bringing back the old cast for their old—or new— roles could help.

A new Harry Potter TV series is imminent, and several actors from the original movies could feasibly return to their roles—or take on new ones. Of course, as a good deal of the cast grew up on the set of the Warner Bros films, the child stars won't be able to return to their old characters. However, in the case of some of the adults, there is no reason those who brought the story to life couldn't do so again for the series.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Argus Filch Could Still Be Played By David Bradley Argus Filch was a rather nasty character in the Harry Potter books, but he is seen as a sort of endearing characteristic of Hogwarts Castle itself. He was perfectly brought to life by actor David Bradley, so it's challenging to reread the books and not see his quivering face. The nasty grin and adoration for his cat, Mrs. Norris, were spot on.

Filius Flitwick Can Still Be Played By Warwick Davis Filius Flitwick's appearance drastically changed in the Harry Potter movies, so a redesign in the TV series might be easier to swallow than for other characters. Of course, despite looking different in the third Harry Potter movie, Professor Flitwick was always played by actor Warwick Davis, who also played Griphook the goblin in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Tom Felton Could Play Lucius Malfoy In A Harry Potter Remake In the Harry Potter books, Lucius Malfoy attended Hogwarts at the same time as the Marauders . Of course, the Harry Potter movies cast the generation before Harry's a lot older than their book counterparts, but a TV series could remedy this. This would mean that actor Jason Isaacs would have aged out of the Lucius Malfoy role, but that doesn't mean another familiar face couldn't take his place.
