Lawrence helped Gers see off PSV last season before injury forced him to watch group stage campaign from the sidelines.
Rewind to this time last year and cast an eye over the jubilant scenes that followed Rangers’ triumph over PSV to reach the Champions League and you’ll find Tom Lawrence tucked off to the side.
But it wasn’t long after the aforementioned photograph was taken in the Philips Stadion that Lawrence would be completely out of frame. An injury picked up the following weekend was initially expected to keep him out for just a few weeks but ended up completely curtailing his debut campaign in Glasgow.
“It had been a long time since the club had been in the Champions League so to be involved that night was amazing. I’d have loved to have been part of the Champions League games but it wasn’t to be. “One big performance can take us back. We’ve done it once, so why not do it again?” An apparently innocuous Achilles issue picked up at the end of an Ibrox win over County 12 months ago, was what put Lawrence out.
“But I’m healthy now and I’m in a very good place. That’s probably been one of the toughest times of my career, but this club has been great with me and helped me every step of the way.Dingwall was more relief. I was just so happy to be back playing and now I want to kick-on and hopefully repay the fans.
