Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott has urged the Australian government to reconsider its membership with the International Criminal Court (ICC) following the issuance of an arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant. Abbott's call comes in the wake of comments made by former foreign minister Alexander Downer, who signed Australia up to the ICC in the late 1990s.

Australia was one of 120 nations in July 1998 to attend a conference at Rome where the ICC was established. “They don't have the political courage to tell us all what they really think, which is that they would arrest Netanyahu if he visited Australia - which you can rest assured he won't for as long as Labor is in office.”
