An out-of-control bushfire on NSW's South Coast has burned through 30,000 hectares of land and is threatening several towns in the Shoalhaven area.
Two fixed-wing aircraft and an aircrane were called in to help battle the blaze, with 39 RFS firefighters and 44 Fire and Rescue personnel fighting the flames from the ground.
In the Blue Mountains, crews are continuing to fight the Ruined Castle fire, which has been contained near Pitts Ampitheatre, in the western end of Jamison Valley near The Three Sisters. The RFS said it's a very remote and rugged area, making firefighting efforts more difficult. The Green Wattle Creek fire, which has burned through 22,000 hectares so far, is currently being kept to the west of a key barrier.
"If it came to that, Nikki and the girls would head to her sisters near Penrith, and I'd try and hang around and defend the property," he said.
