Victoria's top prosecutor has backed changes to the law to give greater protections to victims after the man abused by Jeffrey 'Joffa' Corfe spoke out.

“The requirement that cross-examination be permitted only with leave of the trial judge would still allow for appropriate questioning in appropriate cases. But it would do so in a way that minimises any inhibition on the free flow of information from victim to court.” “As soon as I read that last sentence of my victim impact statement, I felt like a huge weight had been lifted,” he said. “Looking directly at him, it meant a lot”.
Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes said the issue had been brought to her attention by the OPP and that she would continue to discuss with them any possible changes that could be made to help victim-survivors have their voices heard.
