The Tamworth MP dramatically quit as Conservative Party deputy chief whip after a drunken incident in which he said he had 'embarrassed myself and other people'
A Tory MP has had the party whip suspended as an investigation was launched into allegations he drunkenly groped two men at a club.
It followed allegations first reported in The Sun that he had assaulted two fellow guests at a London private members’ club. In his resignation letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Pincher said: “Last night I drank far too much. I’ve embarrassed myself and other people which is the last thing I want to do and for that I apologise to you and to those concerned.
Boris Johnson had been resisting calls to go further and remove the whip, meaning the Tamworth MP would sit as an independent in the Commons.
