Former prime minister Scott Morrison has weighed in on the International Criminal Court ’s controversial arrest warrant for two top Israeli officials, including PM Benjamin Netanyahu, decrying the prospect Australia would arrest the Israeli leader if he travelled Down Under.

Among those was Mr Morrison who took to X, formerly Twitter, with an impassioned critique of the global court’s call that questioned Australia’s membership with the ICC.The absurd prospect, imposed by the ICC, that Australian authorities would be obliged to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu, “Any pretension that the ICC’s actions do not create moral equivalence between the actions of the sovereign nation of Israel in the current conflict and a recognised terrorist organisation in Hamas, is wilful blindness at best and potentially far worse.”

“ deliberately slaughtered, raped, kidnapped babies, children, women, young people at a music festival and others. said they want to do that again and again and are committed for the destruction of the state of Israel versus the democratically elected government of Israel who has a legitimate right to self-defence in the face of such terror from Hamas.”

“The International Criminal Court has surrendered it’s legitimacy in creating a moral equivelance between terrorists and a nation, in Israel, acting in self defense against terrorists who committed the worst atrocities in a single day against the Jewish people on October 7, 2023, since the Holocaust,” the ex-PM wrote.

“We’ve been clear that what we will be guided by is whether the recognition will advance the cause of peace and progress towards a two-state solution,” he said.
