Town centre chaos as 'fabulous' drivers get stuck in new one-way system and mount kerb

Confused drivers were filmed getting stuck in a new one-way system in Altrincham town centre just hours after it was introduced.

The developments have been designed to improve traffic flow, road surfaces, outdoor seating areas, footpaths and cycle lanes throughout the area. But it seems some drivers were unaware of the new layout, which saw Regent Road become a new one-way street as the works are completed. On Wednesday evening, the first day of the change, with lanes blocked off by cones, drivers appeared to become stuck head to head from both directions.

In the clip, drivers can be seen heading along Regent Road from both directions, with traffic backed up on both sides. One car attempts to mount the kerb during the stand-off. Replying under the clip, one person wrote: "It was chaos yesterday."
