Townsville, Australia, is facing a surge in ram raids targeting businesses, prompting police investigations and calls for patience from LNP MP Natalie Marr. Multiple businesses, including a tobacconist and home brew store, have been hit repeatedly in recent weeks. The incidents have caused thousands of dollars in damage, but thieves often steal only minor items.
LNP Member for Thuringowa Natalie Marr has asked Townsville to "be patient", as the Crisafulli government works to address crime in the city.A business on Ingham Road and another on Flinders Street were hit this morning by what police said were suspected stolen vehicles.
LNP Member for Thuringowa Natalie Marr said the "disgraceful behaviour" was a financial burden to business owners. "I know everyone is frustrated with the crime that we have in the city — we are making change, we just want to ask everyone to be patient," Ms Marr said. "This is the third time in two years — less than a year ago they came in through the back and used a crow bar to pry off the door," she said.
Queensland Police said initial investigations into this morning's ram raids indicated tobacco products were stolen from the Ingham Road service station.
