Old Brisbane tram infrastructure and remnants of Queensland’s whaling industry are among more than 50 buildings and structures to be added to the city’s heritage register on Tuesday.
The places include a mid-century church, a garden developed by a notable horticulturalist, an 1880s horse stable, and a post-WWII commercial building.First operating as horse trams, by 1961 most were powered by electricity from overhead lines. “Most of these new heritage places have been identified by the community, who put them forward for inclusion as a local heritage place.”Historical tram pole in front of 29 Merthyr Road, New FarmThe flensing deck and factory structure of the former Tangalooma Whaling Station.
