Trader Joe's new foods of December 2022, reviewed.
Almost every holiday treat at Trader Joe’s this December is like a Mariah Carey Christmas song—a repeat that never gets old. I did appreciate that when I went shopping mid-December, instead of blasting default grocery store holiday music, my Trader Joe’s was playingby Silverchair , whose lyrics, “very hard to driiiiiink,” also apply to a new gingerbread oat milk latte. Of the limited edition holiday stuff, I recommend the Candy Cane Coated Almonds for stocking stuffing and stress snacking.
. The cinnamon isn’t overpowering and the whey powder has a subtle lactic mustiness. I added almond butter , blueberries, and sesame seeds because every bowl of oatmeal is an opportunity for decorating.I bought these to make for my nieces because those little frosting freaks would never notice the nuances between canned cinnamon rolls and painstakingly homemade ones.
, it’s a base of low-sodium soy sauce with added white truffle and mushroom flavors, plus apple cider vinegar. There was an alcohol-like astringency and chemical harshness that I guess could be blunted by food, but why risk it?
