NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian says a number of today's new COVID-19 cases are tradies who worked at multiple properties. Ms Berejiklian has singled out essential workers who work at multiple sites, saying they should 'assume that you have the virus or anyone you're interacting with has the virus'.
Essential workers, including tradies, who visit multiple sites in NSW have been urged to get tested for COVID-19 before continuing working.Ms Berejiklian says essential workers getting tested is not compulsoryNSW recorded 77 new local cases today, with Premier Gladys Berejiklian saying a number of those infections were tradies who worked at multiple properties.
"We really need people who visit multiple sites for essential work, whether you're an electrician or fixing essential services for people within homes or sites, we recommend strongly that you get tested immediately before you continue working," she said. "Unfortunately, we've seen a number of cases in people doing essential work at multiple sites and then spreading the disease through work exposure and then those colleagues going home and spreading it to their loved ones," she said.
"We really do need to start embracing science and not assuming that the population can't deal with the knowledge," she said.
