Trafalgar Square has had a makeover in time for Spring as Londoners flocked to the landmark.

They were met with 6,000 different plants and a replica lion statue, which was covered with live foliage.

Gardeners and horticulturists worked through the night to transform the iconic tourist spot into a stunning green meadow, which forms part of innocent’s Big Rewild Campaign.Nearly one in 20 believed it to be simply letting your wild side free, while 2% thought it was another name for people who grow their own vegetables.

Innocent’s study also found the average adult is only surrounded by the great outdoors around four times a week – for 50 minutes at a time. The majority of people said they would like to see rewilding become more prominent and that the government should be doing more to improve biodiversity.Ray Mears welcomed people into the biodiversity meadow throughout the day London’s most famous square was transformed under a cover of darkness
