Lancashire Police were called just after 12.40pm on Sunday to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Middle Walk, Promenade, near the Grand Hotel. The rider, a man in his 30s who has not been named, was rushed to hospital with 'serious head and chest injuries'.
However, despite the best efforts of staff at Royal Preston Hospital and emergency services, he was later pronounced dead. The man's family are being supported by specialist officers.Officers are now appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage and to anyone who may have been in the area at the time.
Sgt Laura Kendall, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a serious incident in which a man has tragically lost his life. It’s really important we now establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision. "We are appealing for witnesses, CCTV, dashcam footage and to anyone who may have been in the area at the time. If you think you may have seen something - even in the moments leading up to the collision, please let us know."
